The Simultaneous Impeachment of Bush and Cheney
On the eve of the president’s speech to announce his escalation of the war of occupation in Iraq, I can’t help but think of one thing; impeachment. Short of pitchforks and torches at the gates of the White House, this seems like our only option now. I, like many, have been of the opinion, that prospect of Dick Cheney becoming president, made the impeachment option almost completely unthinkable. The trading of one mad man for another carries much risk. But how much worse could it get?
There is certainly no precedent for, what really needs to be done, to stop the darkness and death that is consuming this administration and this country. Both Bush and Cheney need to be simultaneously impeached and forced to resign.
The Speaker of House of Representatives could then become our caretaker president. She could shepherd our country to the next election in 2008. What a different country, we would become almost overnight, with Nancy D’Alesandro Pelosi as president. I know I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
